Pakistan’s real estate sector has long suffered from fraudulent housing schemes, fake property files, and illegal advertisements that have cost thousands of citizens — especially overseas Pakistanis — enormous financial losses. To combat this, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has launched its Online Property Information System, a centralized digital platform that is transforming how citizens verify and access property information across the country.
What Is the NAB Online Property Information System?
The NAB Online Property Information System is a free government digital platform that provides public, one-click access to the approved Layout Plans (LOPs) of registered housing societies across Pakistan. It was developed as part of NAB’s landmark 2025 technology achievements and officially expanded in February 2026.
The initiative was announced by Director General NAB Karachi, Shakeel Ahmed Durrani, and Director General NAB Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Waqar Ahmed Chauhan, during a visit to the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD). It was described as a historic first in Pakistan’s digital governance history.
Key Features of the NAB Property Portal
• 1,026+ housing societies listed with verified layout plans
• One-click access to approved maps and documentation
• SOP and approval details linked for each housing scheme
• Accessible globally — especially beneficial for overseas Pakistanis
• Continuously updated as development authorities submit new records
How Does the NAB Online Property Portal Work?
NAB has directed development authorities from all districts across Pakistan to submit their approved housing scheme records for integration into the portal. The bureau has also written to provincial housing secretaries requesting official maps, approval documents, and records of private housing projects.
Once integrated, the system links standard operating procedures (SOPs), layout plans, and approval details of private housing societies to the portal — enabling investors to verify any project’s legal status before purchasing a plot or property.
Why Was the NAB Property Portal Launched?
Pakistan’s cities including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi have been severely affected by illegal housing schemes, fake plot allotments, and unauthorized construction. Thousands of investors — many of them overseas Pakistanis — have suffered massive losses due to disputed land ownership and unapproved societies.
DG NAB Karachi disclosed that NAB has already recovered government land worth Rs 1.5 trillion at the provincial level, with a plan to recover a further Rs 10 trillion in assets — highlighting the enormous scale of Pakistan’s property fraud crisis.
