Is your real estate investment safe? For decades, property buyers and overseas Pakistanis have faced massive risks from predatory market practices. From file overselling to purchasing plots in illegal housing schemes, navigating the real estate market has been a gamble. However, a major regulatory shift is happening. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated a structural digital solution to eliminate fraud: the NAB Online Property Information System. As documented in the official notification visible in image.png, the Regional Bureau NAB Islamabad/Rawalpindi is spearheading this project to bring unprecedented transparency to the property sector. This initiative directly aligns with the security pillars of Milkiyat.com, where we prioritize verified listings, mandatory agent CNIC verification, and legal compliance. Here is an investigative breakdown of how this new NAB portal works and how you can use it to avoid real estate scams in Pakistan.
What is the NAB Online Property Information System?
According to the official 2026 directive displayed in image.png, the Chairman of NAB has ordered the creation of a centralized database designed to serve as an authenticated public resource. Managed by the Regional Bureau of NAB Islamabad/Rawalpindi, the system will be hosted directly on the official NAB website, making it free and accessible to all citizens of Pakistan and overseas investors.
Synchronization of Approved Layout Plans (LOP)
The core mechanism of this system revolves around Approved Layout Plans (LOPs). As shown in image.png, Director General NAB Rawalpindi, Javed Iqbal, has officially directed the Secretary of the Housing Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Department (HUD&PHED), Government of Punjab, to submit high-resolution (1000 dpi) scans of all approved LOPs for private housing societies under their jurisdiction. To ensure seamless coordination and data integrity, Mr. Mazhar Khan Nutkani (JE-II) has been designated as the central focal person for this data-synchronization drive.
How This System Protects Investors from Real Estate Scams
When looking for how to check if a housing society is approved, investors usually rely on fragmented data from the CDA, RDA, or LDA websites. The upcoming NAB portal simplifies this by acting as a single, legally binding source of truth. This system is designed to completely eradicate two of the biggest fraudulent practices in the market:
1. The End of File Overselling
A common trap among unapproved or semi-approved housing societies is selling thousands of residential files without actually owning the physical land. Because the NAB portal will display the exact, legally synchronized LOP, buyers can instantly check if a specific block or plot number actually exists on the government-sanctioned map before handing over a down payment.
